"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness."
ALBERT EINSTEIN
ALBERT EINSTEIN
This is a brief examination of what we define as the human condition termed 'consciousness' and to what extent we are actually conscious and to what extent we are individually conscious within the group consciousness. To what extent we are individual is termed 'personality'. Academics who torment themselves with this task have bumped into a seemingly insuperable barrier - it's the light speed of philosophy - that is the system's inability to interrogate itself and to whatever extent it is successful in report back its findings to itself in any meaningful way. There is just no language save mathematics that is up to the task. Yet consciousness is recounised as the catalyst for creation and that's a big job to be entrusted to for a bunch of people who are so preoccupied with trivia that they don't care that they are erevocably distroying their own habitat. Hardly the qualification for a creator; but nevertheless that's what's happening. When we eventually wipe ourselves out, and cease to 'colapse the wave function' will the universe lapse into unresolved potential once again. Who knows. This isn't a 'green' rant merely to emphasise This is to underline the importance of conciousness and our place in creation. Nature must be desperate indeed if it needs us to give it form. As magicians we must be be of the albeit minority opinion that the juganaut of human consciousness is capable of influence. That we are not helplessly strapped to the back of some unstopable monster. That we can beneficially tinker with the mechanism. That's our calling. That's our job. Most western martyres saints and religious figures are not in the business of elevating consciousness, at best they just tinker with social conditions and morality and politics generally try to improve life a but and make the world a bit more just. But that's just kinda adding credibillity/solidity to the situation. What we need to do is to breakdown this perception so that our true purpose is revealed and actuated. we need change not improvement. The baby needs to go out with the bathwater; and the bath. The greatest manipulators of human counsciousness are the media moguls. do you want rupert murdock to be directing operations creation. I might be accused of taking an overly prosaic view, but what the hell. Mention the Kabbalah and the arts.
Confusion between causes and states - the interaction between states becomes a cause for another manifestation of consciousness or reveals another facet of mind none of the below are necessarily sequential although some quite obviously are.

"The sensation of colour cannot be accounted for by the physicist's objective picture of light-waves."
ERWIN SCHRODINGER
This is really quite scary: the solid, dependable reality that we perceive does not exist outside of our consciousness. What's 'out there' are simply properties - such as light waves and pressure waves - that interact with our sense organs generating electrical signals that travel to our brain where the impressions of sound, colour, taste, sensation are created; and, just when you think that things couldn't get worse, we are told that these causal properties (qualia) may also not exist. Schrödinger went on to say, "Could the physiologist account for it [colour], if he had fuller knowledge than he has of the processes in the retina and the nervous processes set up by them in the optical nerve bundles and in the brain? I do not think so."

From day one we naturally take our behavioural cues from our parents. We learn how to act by preferring praise to punishment and, to a greater extent than we'll later admit, we adopt their values. When we venture out into the world and are enveloped in the language and norms of culture. Our thoughts adapt to this social guidance and our persona evolves accordingly. We begin automatically to mimic those around us; making fewer and fewer individual judgements as we submerge into, what is now termed, 'consensus consciousness'. Mortgages to pay, mouths to feed, repeat, repeat, repeat; life speeds by and we lose track of the true glories of existence as the hook of consensus consciousness bites deeper.

It would be too easy to declare that personal consciousness is a self evident truth because philosophers and scientists still dither about the definition even the existence of consciousness. Leading neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, describes consciousness "the feeling of what happens", and as "an organism's awareness of its own self and its surroundings". I’d add to this with the ability to make individual value judgements and decisions. The extent of this independence of thought very much depends on the level of absorption into the collective. And this process of 'individuation' (to borrow a term from Jung) is the prime purpose of the magician.

WILLIAM JAMES
In reality this is a nul term; another name for it is 'limen' (Latin for threshold). It is a negative space between the ectopsyche and the endopsyche. The ectopsyche representing life above the 'limen' - the personal consciousness and its interaction with external phenomena. The endopsyche representing life below the 'limen' - the personal consciousness and its interaction with the personal unconscious. What transforms this area from a void to a structure is the log jam of psychic junk (some inherited, some learned) that collects there. As the magician's job is to beneficially unite the personal conscious with the personal and collective unconscious the endopsychic barrier represents a major consideration.

The pre-conscious is the mind's short to medium term filing cabinet. Freud defines this area as "that which upon reflection could become conscious voluntarily. For instance, remembering your wife's name when you weren't thinking about her. The ego's inner layer. That which is unconscious is repressed and therefore held out of awareness". From this area memories can be retrieved and revivified or allowed to slide into long term memory. As such this area can be thought of as straddling the 'endopsychic barrier'.

"Where id was, there ego shall be."
SIGMUND FREUD
The id follows the ‘pleasure principle’; seeking to avoid pain or displeasure, it is unconscious by definition. A newborn child’s mind is a mass of instincts and impulses demanding immediate satisfaction and as such is overwhelmingly id. This is the ‘reservoir of libido’ - the unorganized part of the personality structure that contains the basic drives. Freud describes the id as “a chaos, a cauldron full of seething excitations… filled with energy reaching it from the instincts, but it has no organization, produces no collective will”. The id is completely innocent with no judgements of value, no good and evil, no morality only desires that it seeks to fulfill.

"Ego is the immediate dictate of human consciousness."
MAX PLANCK
Ego is that part of the id which acts according to the reality principle. Freud compared the relationship of the ego and the id with that between a rider and his horse. The ego seeks to please the id’s drive in realistic ways that will bring long term benefit as well as short term satisfaction. In Freud’s terms it "attempts to mediate between id and reality”. The ego comprises that organised part of the personality structure that includes defensive, perceptual, intellectual-cognitive, and executive functions. Conscious awareness resides in the ego, although not all of the operations of the ego are conscious. The ego separates out what is real. It helps us to organise our thoughts and make sense of them and the world around us.

Behaviour and values learned from parents, authority figures and role models form what Freud termed the ‘super ego’ and what the rest of the world calls the ‘conscience’. It comprises that, mainly but not entirely unconscious, part of the personality which criticises, prohibits, and regulates the extent to which fantasies and desires are enacted and punishes misbehaviour with feelings of guilt. The super-ego controls our sense of right and wrong and helps us fit into society by getting us to act in socially acceptable ways. The super-ego's demands often oppose the id’s, so the ego sometimes has a hard time mediating between them.

The mind thrives on novelty and delegates boring repetitive tasks to what is termed the 'autonomic nervous system' which functions largely below the level of consciousness. Conscious control can be regained, for instance breathing and even, with practice, the heartbeat; but for all practical purposes we simply find it more convenient to let the robot take over. He's really good at that kind of stuff and the temptation is to delegate more and more of our important functions. Soon he doesn't bother to be invited he just takes over and gradually we lose great areas of awareness to our helpful robot; walking, eating, thinking, even talking. And soon we are no better than robots ourselves.

The ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius saw society as an orchestra, with harmony achieved only through everyone understanding their role in the greater scheme of things. Individualism was not as important as group thinking. Mark Earls explores this brilliantly in Herd; we are fundamentally an inherently social species, dependent on each other for our identity.
Human beings are predominantly herd animals, programmed to seek togetherness
China may have abandoned Marxism and Maoism due to their bankruptcy as economic models, but its emergence as a true superpower – and the subsequent rise of powerful Chinese brands born outside the West – may well force the theory of branding into sharp debate. Anglo-American market dominance will increasingly be contested by not only China, but also other emerging economies like Brazil and India.
Could the Harmonious Collective end up replacing the American Dream as an organizing principle for consumerism? Might the future of brands lie in bringing us together, rather than separating us? Perhaps the rise of the sharing economy and all the talk about co-op capitalism are indicators of where we may be going as a consumer culture…
Or maybe deep down, we’re just a bit too selfish for things to change that much.

We sometimes get glimpses of superconsciousness, sometimes known as peak experiences, in our daily life, but deep perceptions of it can really only come to us in the deep stillness of meditation. Properly speaking, meditation truly begins once the thoughts and emotions have been stilled. It’s a state of intense inward awareness, a state in which one’s attention is no longer engaged in the outward activities of our lives, but is wholly engrossed in the superconscious experience. Meditation may be loosely defined as any practice of which the goal is superconsciousness. It’s the process of retraining our awareness to operate not from the conscious or subconscious level, but from the superconscious.

Do we have to suffer to evolve?
Can we transcend our world or our reality?
How do we develop gift of intentionality?
What does co creating really mean?
All of these questions are about the connections of consciousness. I intend to spend a week on this thread talking about what we think we know about consciousness. I am also planning on adding information that has constantly caused me to rethink my own body of knowledge.
While time is doing strange things right now--spinning faster and faster--the conscious choice is to be aware that right now direction is more important than speed.
I always like to look at how art reflects life or maybe art creates life by stimulating thought. Kind of like The World is a circle without a beginning and nobody knows where the circle ends.
Thus, I know the Matrix exists and I know I can't see the big picture of its existence. So swimming in the Matrix is like life to me.
In the movie of the Matrix the answer to the first question do you have to suffer to evolve---seems to be yes. And we get from the movie that most people are not willing to do the work to free themselves. Then when confronted with the truth, the pain is not worth living for. Eckhart Tolle's book The New Earth says Evolve of Die! We no longer have the time to awaken the masses who choose not to know, we barely have enough time to form teams of consciousness.
The twenty percent have always pulled the majority, it seems to be built into our DNA. In the MyersBriggs theory of personality, they look at is as quadrants of personality. There seems to be a consistent percentage of certain types of people in all cultures.
The inner square of personalities is essentially 64%. Divided into two sections of 32%. One section says Don't worry be happy. And the other section says early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthy, happy, and wise.
They cancel each other out and they are the inertia of the population that has to be moved. They require a lot to come to consensus, to change, or to move emotionally. The extreme forms of scientists, seekers, teachers, explorers etc. have to spend a lot of time to change their minds. That keeps the population stable from the crazies and the fringes. Our ability to produce propaganda has now outstrip our ability to disclose it.
Bill Ryan is on the outer edges of the personality paradigm in his from of Idealist--5% of the population on a whole. I am on the opposite of the square as a rationalist and my type is also 2 to 5% of the population. It is not that Bill and I don't understand one another--we have different skill sets. We seem to be in agreement we need to form up the 20% of the population into teams or ground crews and do the work that needs doing. We have never met but that is what his writing tells me.
Can we transcend our reality? Those of us that have done it in some form or other know it goes this way---change my mind, change my choices, change my life. From doing this, I have feel I have already lived three distinct lives in this lifetime and I am getting ready to embark on the fourth and final.
My personal experience with life is that Nature has told us over and over there is another reality and we ignore it. In the 70s, when the galvanic skin response machine became available they hooked up to plants and recorded the plants reacting to things done in its presence from good music playing to boiling lobsters. Then they went a step further and proved that the plants responded to people thinking about the plants. These experiments were repeated and remained repeatable. They have been even more refined over the years. In 1955 Disney made one of his nature movies and said the rainforests are the lungs of the earth. All powerful stuff with incredible implications. Those of us who were really into it got called crazy tree huggers.
What existed before our eyes--we denied.
How do we develop the gift of intentionality? Doing something every day that works.
This site has a mission statement about learning, sharing, and developing. It also seems to stand for intolerance against intolerance. I come from a political site of 300,000 plus whose intention is to elect better politicians. After 8 years, I am done because there is nothing I can see coming from our intentions. 300,000 has little weight with the heavy population. Thus, my mind has changed to ground crews have by far more chance than major organizations and you can't fight money with money. You can only change the paradigm.
We could be quite vicious with attacking positions but we were very tolerant of the whole process. To my knowledge although always one of the largest political sites, we did not have a monitor until a little over a year ago. That is because we policed ourselves. We had the courage to say to each other you are off the wall, back off, and we supported the weak against the strong to some degree. We gave people time. We let people make fools of themselves. No one killed someone's thread. They died from lack of interest.
We are not children here. We can praise, and bless, and reprimand. We just need to do it with respect, dignity, and compassion. For two thousand people to need 14 monitors something is seriously wrong with our own behavior. We need to come to consciousness about rather we are creating Lord of the Flies or Lord of the Rings.
What does co creating mean?
To my knowledge I have never really done this. I have tried it a bunch of times. If this is the end of times in some form, now is the time to give it my all. Thus, my call to come to Avalon. Avalon calling to change. It has been said we are the only planet steeped in enormous religious subjugation. We are just now really coming to terms with what all that means. It is basic rethinking of what it means to reconsider the rightness and wrongness of everything.
Love means never having to say your sorry. Rubbish! Love means especially having to say you are sorry. I used to feel great guilt about this. Like it was my generation that put that out there. But it wasn't. It was the Powers That Be. Because it is fundamental to how they work. Destroy the world markets. Not a problem. Pay them a bonus. Not sorry. And not accountable. This is the world reality now.
To co create another world we must do things differently. Like acting like adults all the time and not requiring constant supervision. Being aware enough to see someone is having a bad day and tell them to take a break. When people are wallowing in pain say I hear you but it is enough already. Sometimes they need permission or direction to stop.
What do we have when we do this? I don't know but I am going to give it a shot. I am asking some of my friends to post and to post some stuff I want all of you to see. And then I am going to post an alternative reality story of my own experience. I hope many of you will do the same. Like you learn from major walk abouts--what we are -- are the stories we created. They are visions or nightmares.
Can we transcend our world or our reality?

"To such aCollective Consciousness defines Rules of Reality

Everyone has the capacity, at some level, to shape reality. This capacity is dormant in most people, who are known as sleepers, whereas magicians are said to be awakened. Because they’re awakened, magicians can consciously effect changes to reality via willpower, beliefs, and specific magical techniques.
What we know as “Reality” is created by thought and consciousness at all levels of Universal Life from The Source, The First Cause, God to the collective consciousness of created beings. Everyday reality is governed by commonsense rules derived from the collective beliefs of humans which is called the Consensus. The effects of physical laws in the world that we live in are not fixed by they shift according to the state of collective consciousness. Physical reality is an illusion, although a very persistent one.
Magic is simply the ability of a magician or will-worker to impose his will onto reality. Magicians are able to do this because they realize the physical world is a lie. A magician’s power, or level of awakening and understanding the depths of the Lie, is called Gnosis. The paradigm is the understanding a Magician has over particular facets of reality, which governs his ability to affect those aspects. The better the paradigm, the more capable the magician is in affecting reality.
A magician’s paradigm differs substantially from the Consensus. When a magician performs an act of magic that does not seriously violate the commonsense version of reality, it is called coincidental magic or synchronicity which can be accepted by sleepers as luck or pure coincidence. Magic that deviates wildly from consensus is called blatant magic because sleepers cannot accept it and therefore condemn it to be evil and unnatural.
In ancient times, civilization existed in a paradigm where magic and the supernatural was very much part of ordinary reality. The workings of magic and supernatural phenomena were a lot more in effect during that time. It was the onset of early science and technology that shifted collective consciousness from a magical to a more limited one.
As the masses’ beliefs shifted, the Consensus changed and magicians began to lose their their powers and as their metaphysical influence waned. It was consensus reality that brought the lower rules of physics into play, but it was according to the purpose of the divine so that we can learn certain spiritual lessons from interacting with one another in an environment with more limits imposed. Many things that did existed in the past paradigm but which did not fit into this new paradigm was discarded and refuted to be myths.
The old enemy of religion and philosophy is science. But in fact, science will serve up the confirmation of higher reality and science will be the one to bring this to the world. Religion has tried to do it for 2000 years and has failed miserably. Once it is accepted and understood by scientists, the breakthroughs will be astronomical.
Physical reality is governed by collective consciousness therefore, transcending physical laws is not as easy as it seems in the face of consensus reality. Since the majority of people do not believe such things are possible yet, it is much more difficult to manifest those abilities in present time. But as collective consciousness changes over time, humans will be able to manifest more and more superhuman abilities starting with the more readily acceptable to the more outrageous kind.
The range of mind powers arranged in such a spectrum begins from intuition, manifestation, luck and moves on to psychic influence, telepathy and moves on to time manipulation, telekinesis, transfiguration, invincibility, levitation, teleportation and so on. Start by developing abilities that are more readily acceptable by consensus reality because they are more subtle ones. You will be more successful at them. Then again, you can be equally successful at anything if you can do it apart from the consensus.
Collective consciousness does not only define the rules of physical reality but it also defines every other plane of reality, except the personal dream plane which is created by individual consciousness. The difference between dream and reality is that a dream is what you are personally dreaming, but reality is what everyone is collectively dreaming. You have more freedom to manipulate your dream world than the collective dream world. Since reality is grounded by awareness, you are able to change reality by affecting it in areas where the consensus is unaware of, or by changing the awareness of people.
The reason why angelic powers want to accelerate the conscious evolution of humans is so that when collective consciousness is shifted to a higher dimension, they are able to manifest their powers on earth with greater range and effect. That is when the heavens are brought to the earth and they can fully rule the physical world as gods. The faster consensus reality can be shifted to the next level, the faster the rules that govern physical reality can be transcended and thus merging third density with higher densities of reality. That is when the planes of hyperdimensional beings are merged with ours thereby allowing them to fully exist in and manipulate our world.
This is both a good or bad thing depending on perspective. It is good when you realize that the merger of our planes also gives us the ability to go into their dimension and fight them in their territory. They can come here but we can go there. This levels the playing field and removes the advantage that they have from being able to attack from a higher dimension into a lower one.
To do magic, you have to defy consensus reality or transform it. You have to break the rules and transcend the system. Whatever the majority of people is doing, under any given circumstance, if you do the exact opposite, you will probably never make another mistake as long as you live. When you know that the rules of reality are defined by collective consciousness, you know that there are truly no limits. Know when to ride the flow of collective consciousness when it is to your advantage, and when to go against it. You can also bypass consensus reality in areas where the freewill of collective consciousness is not anchored by awareness.
We can also consciously influence the collective. We can insert thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and set them adrift on its currents. They will circulate among the masses of humanity, occasionally surfacing in an individual’s thoughts, often influencing the behavior, perceptions, and beliefs of the unawakened on a profound yet unspoken level.
